LONG-TERM ACTIVITIES
The ABPMR Foundation carries out scientific research and
educational activities relevant to and supportive of the mission
of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
(ABPMR) including, but not limited to:
- To encourage investigators to become involved in research
for the benefit of persons with disabilities, and to provide
such investigators a forum for the interchange of
ideas regarding this population
- To promote the exchange of information and
facilitate strategic thinking
among various professional organizations
and individuals concerned with
physical medicine and rehabilitation.
This will be achieved by by
publishing the ABPMR Foundation’s scientific
research and by sponsoring scientific meetings,
conferences, and seminars, alone or
in conjunction with other complementary disciplines and certifying Boards
- To study ethical, moral, and legal aspects of
physical medicine and rehabilitation certification
and the responsibility of the process to the public interest
- To conduct and support scientific research in:
- professional
development, including ethical practice and sensitivity to diversity
- statistics related to PM&R, including subspecialty
census and demographic
data, educational dimensions, and trends related
to the impact of changes in the health care delivery system
- the education of the PM&R field and its subspecialties
- the
processes of cognition, learning, and
acquisition of skills, testing of these processes
utilizing new techniques, and sponsoring
exhibits, workshops, and instruction courses
- To establish an archive of documents and testing
materials for research endeavors.
